How Excited I am to Visit the Top Tourist Attractions in China

I used to work for Chinese-Canadian employers for almost 3 years. They treated me as if I was part of their family. Every time they visit other countries (such as Italy, Dubai, and others), they always buy me souvenirs. Let’s call them Mr. and Mrs. Chiu. One day, Mrs. Chiu asked me “Would you like to come with us to China next month? We’re planning to visit Great Wall of China, one of the most incredible historical places in China. Don’t worry about anything”!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/_chrisuk/8111978700/

How would you feel if somebody offers you that kind of indulgence or luxury? How will you take or answer it? When she asked me that question, I was extremely excited because I will be able to see the “Forbidden City in Beijing, one of the main attractions in China.  I imagined that I will finally be able to lean on the Great Wall of China, one of the greatest historical places in China.

There was silence. Suddenly, Mrs. Chiu said “In exchange, Mr. Chiu and I would like to request you to stay in the company for 10 years.  I answered “Mrs. Chiu, thank you for the opportunity. However, I can’t accept your very kind offer. I want to go back to school.”

She disappointedly looked at me and said “Alright then, please let me know if in case you change your mind.”

What would you do if you have a chance to visit the top tourist attractions in China?

How to Find Cheap Hotels in Hong Kong, China?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/11473001@N04/1132944929/

One of the things that we need to remember when visiting Hong Kong, China is to consider in checking out some cheap Hong Kong hotels. Cheap doesn’t mean low quality in terms of cleanliness, amenities provided, foods offered, and customer service. According to my good friend who’s been living in Hong Kong for more than a decade, there are lots of cheap but amazing hotels around the area as long as you know where and how to find those places. If ever I will visit Hong Kong, it will not be hard for me to find a place because some of my cousins live there and I will use my “charm power” for them to let me stay in their homes. In return, I will buy groceries and cook dinner for them.

Cheap Hong Kong hotels are hard to find most particularly when you do not know anybody. But if you are fortunate enough to find somebody that you know, they might even suggest you to check for apartments in Hong Kong for rent which are considered to be cheaper than hotels. What do you think are the best ways to find cheap hotels in Hong Kong, China?

If I do not know anybody in Hong Kong, I might visit Tripadvisor.com and get some reviews from those people who stayed in those cheap Hong Kong hotels. What about you?

And the best thing to know more about a place is to learn the basic greetings and most particularly their main foods. And knowing more about China is not an excuse. Typical foods are also called “staple foods” for British nationalities.

Definition of Staple Foods:  According to Oxford Dictionaries, the word staple means that it is the foremost and essential element of a population’s food (e.g. beef, potatoes, and dairy in Canada). Do you want to know some staple foods in China?

Here are some examples of China's staple foods (check some scrumptious recipes when you click the items below):

How Important of Hong Kong Culture Facts

Hong Kong which depended on British many years ago is a big region in China, so the Hong Kong Culture Facts are mixed between British and China. It is really important for you to know these facts so that you will be able to communicate well with Hong Kong people.

Most of the Hong Kong culture facts are the same with other China culture facts. There are some points you need to notice and avoid when traveling to Hong Kong.

  • The main language in Hong Kong is Cantonese. However, Mandarin and English can also be used in this region.
  • Hong Kong people can stand closely in communication, but they are uncomfortable with body contact. You should not wink at someone because this is considered as a very rude action. Moreover, pointing to Hong Kong people with your index finger will make them feel that you do not respect them.
  • In the restaurants, you can ask for the bills by making a writing motion on your hand. This action has the same meaning with other China culture facts. Additionally, you do not need to leave tips in Hong Kong restaurants because most of them will add the 10% restaurant service charge into your bills.

China Culture Today: The Modern Chinese Culture

Sir Edward B. Tylor, a British Anthropologist, once mentioned that culture is a multifaceted whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other habits acquired by man in the society. And the China culture today has transformed in some ways.

The culture of China today has changed from the past decades. I was born in 80’s and enjoyed my childhood in the 90’s. And I can say that there were lots of changes in cultural aspects of my fellow Filipinos due to industrialization and globalization. And this happens to almost all countries like China.

1.    Women and Marriage Today:

Most women neglect marriage and stay single for a long time, if not forever. They are highly ambitious and dedicated to working .Check out an article here.
