What Typical Foods in China Would You Recommend?


The typical foods in China are different between the regions because of the differences of the culture and living conditions. This makes the common foods in China become divertive.

Sweet and Sour Pork which has a bright orange-red colour with the mixed tastes between sweetness and sourness is one of typical foods in China. Nowadays, this can be made with chicken or other kinds of meats.

Gong Bao Chicken is a famous Sichuan food with the main taste of chili. This is made by diced chicken, dried chili, and fried peanuts. Western people makes some changes with this food by adding cornstarch, and vegetables, sweet and sour sauce and mashed garlic.

Wontons are the famous dish which has a thousand-year history. This food has introduced since the Tang dynasty. This become a traditional food for Chinese people to eat on the winter solstice.

Peking Roasted Duck is considered as a representative food in Beijing and one of most popular foods in China. This is similar with the tradition of roast turkey in America. Today, this becomes a must-eat dish for people who travel to Beijing.
